Hi 👋 😊 I’m Sam. I’m a first home buyer building a home for my teenage daughter, our rescue dog and myself.
We’re building The Darling with New Choice Homes in Port Kennedy, Western Australia (a suburb of Perth).
We started this website to keep a clear record of our build journey — the progress of the home, the timeframes provided to us and the practical impact on our family. We aim to document the journey factually and fairly.
This is a photo of our build on 8 September 2026. Do you think it needs 10 months to complete after the roof installation?
The builder’s written practical completion date is:
3 July 2027
On 14 October 2026 New Choice Homes provided conflicting information about the completion time-frame but no updated date.
This is a modest 159.15 m², three-bedroom home with a relatively basic level of finish.
There is:
no internal wall painting
no flooring outside the wet areas
no air-conditioning
no theatre
a compact laundry incorporated into a cupboard-style space
